Learning Objectives

  • Identify everyday uses of AI and explain how AI recognises patterns and supports predictions.
  • Describe how AI can support cybersecurity defenders in detecting anomalies, suspicious logins and phishing attempts.
  • Recognise risks linked to generative AI, including data leakage, overtrust, hallucinations and unsafe prompting.
  • Identify how attackers may use AI to create realistic phishing, scams, fake support interactions and deepfake audio or video.
  • Apply safe AI-use practices by avoiding sensitive data sharing, verifying outputs and following organisational policies.
  • Explain basic cybersecurity considerations for AI systems, including privacy, explainability, robustness and verifiability.
  • Evaluate whether an AI-generated message, summary or request should be trusted, verified, escalated or rejected.

Prerequisites

  • No technical prerequisites.
  • Basic digital literacy and familiarity with everyday workplace tools are recommended.
  • The course is suitable for non-technical learners and does not require coding, AI development or cybersecurity operations experience.
